Has the invention of atomic bomb made the world a more peaceful place?

The invention of the atomic bomb increased the opportunity cost of war between nations. Due to its destructive nature, not only affected areas will take decades and centuries to recover, as a result of nuclear explosions, consequences such as radioactive fallout will continue to spread on global scale. Therefore, whether you are one of the participating countries or an ally, you will be affected in the unlikely event of a nuclear war.

Besides, the cause of conflicts is usually surrounded by economic reasons.

In modern global economy, nations are more economically connected than ever before. Global trade became a more effective way to neutralize social problems and globe conflicts. The birth of internet also provided a platform where information is more transparent. With easy access to information, not only people are more aware of the consequences, governing bodies are also under more pressure when solving foreign conflicts.

As a result, the likelihood of another world war is rare, because a war between any nations with access to nuclear weapons is a risky way to solve a problem. It is essentially a lose-lose situation for any participating nations.
